Where the Wild Things Are

A 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are has brought joy to kids for many year. I always wanted to be Max and have my own wolf costume. At first the book scared my a little, but that was the whole joy of the story. The illustrations are wonderful too. At first the book was banned in libraries and received negative reviews. It took about two years for librarians and teachers to realize that children were flocking to the book. There have been many adaptations of the book, including the 2009 movie.
