Road to Avonlea

This Lucy Maud Montgomery adaption was first broadcast in Canada and later on the Disney channel. From the same people that brought you the Anne of Green Gables book, this show was created by Kevin Sullivan and produced by Sullivan Films. I remember loving the Disney Free preview weekend and watching the Road To Avonlea. The show followed the King family and the arrival of their cousin, Sara Stanley. (played by Sarah Polley) The show brought in a lot of great guest stars: Christopher Reeve, Stockard Channing, Ryan Gosling, Maureen Stapleton, Treat Williams, Christopher Lloyd and Dianne Wiest. Lloyd and Wiest won emmy awards for their roles. The town of Avonlea was adapted from existing buildings and roads were painted red to emulate the red sand of the Island. The show ran from 1990 and 1996.
