With Tim Burton's new remake film of Dark Shadows, comes a look back on the Campy Daytime Soap Opera. There have been many remakes and films of Dark Shadows and the Character Barnabas Collins. Johnny Depp will play the "Cousin" from England, but today we look back at the original. Originally played by Canadian actor Jonathan Frid, Barnabas Collins is a 200-year-old vampire who is in search of fresh blood and his lost love, Josette. The introduction of the character single-handedly saved the show from low ratings. You have to love the campy ways the original brought. Grave stones would fall over, camera men were seen running around, and the actors would drop there lines. Nothing compares to the true Barnabas.
