Speak & Spell

A friend of mine got to talking to her daughter about the old Speak & Spell game. I loved my Speak & Spell. I loved it so much that when the back fell off, I taped that battery back with Masking Tape. The Speak & Spell was created by a small team of engineers led by Paul Breedlove, himself an engineer, with Texas Instruments. My favorite was playing the Mystery Word game. They would give you blanks and you would guess the words and letter. An Electronic hangman. The best part about the Speak & Spell is that you could spell anything and the computer would read it back to you. So you would always type in dirty words so you could hear them said. Classic!
