In the spring of 1982 something terrible happen to one of the best shows ever. Tom Wopat and John Schneider didn't report to the set of, The Dukes of Hazzard. Contract dispute over their salaries and merchandising royalties owed to them lent to the truancy. So the producers hired Byron Cherry as Coy Duke and Christopher Mayer as Vance Duke. They were Bo and Lukes cousin, but to me there were a generic brand. The Shasta of Hazzard County. Ratings went down deeper than Waylon Jennings voice. Warner Brothers renegotiated with Wopat and Schneider, and eventually a settlement was reached, and the original Duke boys returned to the series in early 1983. It was too late, the General Lee was tarnished. In early February 1985, The Dukes of Hazzard quietly ended its run. Thanks a lot Coy and Vance!!!
