Who's Voice is that: E.T.

E.T. was the movie that changed the way blockbuster movies are ranked. Many of my friends remember E.T. as the first movie their parents took them to. But who provided the voice of the Extra-Terrestrial? Well it wasn't just one person or even one thing that brought the voice to life. The major voice work for E.T. was performed by Pat Welsh. She smoked two packs a day, which was the reason for her deep voice. She also had been hired by George Lucas to be the voice of Boushh in Star wars Return of The Jedi. It is rumored Lucas heard her voice while she was at a laundromat. Welsh was originally paid $380 for 9 1/2 hours work on E.T. Along with her voice, they recorded 16 other people, including Spielberg. Debra Winger(then married to the sound effects supervisor of the movie) also provided some voice work after her husband heard her talking with a cold. Talk about a Term of Endearment.
